INFORMATION

St James City Farm has been here in the centre of Gloucester for over 18 years. Children are able to get up close and handle and feed the animals, a brilliant experience for the whole family.

There is an acre and a half of land full of many animals such as paddocks housing a variety of rare breeds, including a pair of Dexter cows, Golden Guernsey and Pygmy goats, a Saddleback sow and a small flock of Cotswold lion sheep. A Bagot goat and her two kids have also arrived and there’s about 50 poultry of various backgrounds running around a retired Welsh Pony as well as a variety of rabbits and guinea pigs.

There is a Pony care project where children have the chance for 1 on 1 leassons to learn the basics of riding and horse care.

You can book for a private party in advance, which includes a guided tour and planned activities for children. They can grow their own vegetables and designing and building livestock housing.

Private bookings include a range of activities including brushing, painting hooves and plaiting manes of the ponies, collecting eggs, cuddling rabbits, groaming and walking goats, cheking out the sheep and pony rides (age 4 minimum).

There will also be a range of age appropriate games for the children such as pin the tail on the donkey, milk the 'cow', a farm treasure hunt, hunt the horse shoes, apple bobbking and face painting.
