History

Home to Gloucester Rugby, Kingsholm Stadium is a rugby union stadium. It has a capacity of 16,115. It sometimes earns itself the nickname 'Castle Grim' after the estate where the stadium was built in Gloucester. In 2007, the stadium opened a new main grandstand along the south of the touchline with a full seating capacity of 7,500 and it is currently sponsored by JS Facilities Group.

Before settling at Twickenham, Kingsholm Stadium was once home to England. In 1991, it also hosted New Zealand versus United States for a pool match in the Rugby World Cup.

The same as many English professional Rugby Union clubs, the stadium features several terraced standing areas. The North Stand is such an area and is colloquially as 'The Shed' which runs down the whole length of the pitch and holds around 3,000 people. It is mostly known for is proximity to the pitch and the low roof which enables feverent home support. Holding around 1,615 spectators and offering a row of hospitality boxes located above, it is sponsored by Stowford press.
